Remove Layers from Layer State?

In the editor, I remove all layers unaffected by the state, click ok then save the state and the next time I go in they're all back.

I've never been able to get this feature to work. Does it work for others?

Hi @randyspear6624,

Can you make a quick screencast of your steps as this does seem to work for me. I would like to compare it with my steps. I have attached a video of how I am doing this. Please let me know if there is a difference.

Also, what version of AutoCAD are you using? Is it fully up-to-date?  Use your Autodesk Desktop App to check.

Sorry, I wasn't clear... I'm not having any difficulties changing the layer properties, I'm trying to remove layers that have nothing to do with the state via the add/remove layers buttons at the bottom of the editor.

I figure it would be easy to troubleshoot in the future if it's only displaying specific layers. Maybe I've misunderstood the intent of those two buttons though.

Hi @randyspear6624,

Sorry if I din't understand the question. I made another video to show you how a Layer state can be created and saved. Then I can edit and remove layers that I do not want to include in it.

Is yours not behaving in the same fashion?

No my autocad and civil 3d 2017 do not function like yours.

I tried an action recorder but it crashes my system.

I'm also experiencing other functions that don't work occasionally... OSNAPS, delete layer filters, pgp commands not holding.

I have IDS 2015 as well and it's even worse. (it wasn't as bad when 2017 IDS was not loaded)

Hi @randyspear6624,

This sounds like you have some corruption in your system. I suggest starting a new thread to address each issue.  Please include exact version number of each application to show they have been fully updated. Please also include system information such as OS, RAM. Disk, Graphics card, etc.

All those other features failing is not a good sign.

I've now tried four new machines in 2017 and 2015. None of them will exclude layers in layer states like your last video shows.

Currently I'm using IDS2015 version J.210.0.0 SP3

HI @randyspear6624,

I am not familiar with that product name (IDS). Can you please clarify that for me.  Also, if you could make a quick Screencast video that shows the actions on your computer it would be most helpful for me to see what you are experiencing as I have thus far been unable to duplicate this issue.

Have you tried a Repair and Reset Settings to Default on one of these computers to see if that corrects the issue?

Can you tell me what the OS and exact version of AutoCAD is installed on each machine? I would like to see if each meets system requirements for the software and if the application is fully patched and updated.

IDS = Infrastructure Design Suite

I posted the civil 3d version above... I'm not sure where to find any other version info.

I'm using windows 10 64 bit, 32GB Ram, Nvidia Quadro K4100M, i7-4810 cpu @ 2.80GHz

I'll try and create a video in the next few days.

Version of product: command ABOUT display the fully information.

Video: Please use SCREENCAST from Autodesk (free) and work "slow" with full Autocad program window.

At this point i want to write:

If you are using 2 or more displays, try using the othe on for edit inside the dialog!

But because of that:

"I'm also experiencing other functions that don't work occasionally... OSNAPS, delete layer filters, pgp commands not holding."

My short answer is reset autocad to default, or repairinstall, or clean uninstall & reinstall the product.

But now I'm looking forward to your screencast!

Sebastian

Let me know if you want me to copy and paste all the copyright text. The product version is all I've ever had to pass along during support issues in the past.
