Good morning all,

What program would be good for engineers to mark up the drawing with out printing it. Let me try to explain. We want to set up a work station by the engineers where they can open drawings and review them. Then they can mark changes to the drawing ... aka red line it with out actually changing the drawing. We want to get a large screen and lay it flat in a desk where more then one person can stand around it and talk about the print. We do not really want to use a cloud or anything. Any suggestions?

Create a DWFx file of the drawing.  This DWFx file can then be opened with Design Review and marked up.

After the mark ups have been applied, the DWFx can be overlayed onto the drawing.  This way, the markups can be reviewed then applied to the drawing.

Note that you can set up CAD machines to "Auto-publish" to DWF whenever the file is saved and/or closed, so that the DWF=DWG.

I will look into that. I know they'll like the free part of it! 😮

I have not done much with the Auto publish thing. It seems to cause problems with the larger drawings. Hopefully, when we get better computers, we can try this. It sounds like a good way to make sure one is always saved with out my having to actually take the time to save it in both formats.

I have played with Design review. For some reason the mark up I make do not show up when I attach it to the dwg. I guess I need to play with it more.

Be sure to use the MARKUP SET MANAGER to attach the DWFx, then you can see the markups.

AutoCAD Command:  MARKUP.
