Rectangular selection not working when done too fast

Click, drag, click. This draws a rectangular area and selects everything inside of it (duh). However, I'm running into issues where if my second click is too fast, it won't select anything at all. I've found myself having to click, drag, pause for two seconds, then click again to ensure my selection goes through.

My gut is saying this has to do with my hardware. Maybe it's time for a graphics card upgrade. However, I'd like to check in first and see if this is an issue that anyone has run into and if there's an easy solution. Thanks!

EDIT: running Civil 3D 2019

Does turning off SELECTIONPREVIEW [setting it to zero] help?  It could be needing some thinking time to recognize things in the area to highlight them, and should not have the problem if it doesn't need to highlight them until after you've picked the other corner.

Did you solve this yet.  If not I will look through my settings and see if I can remember what I did  to fix it.  Im thinking it was something to do with Right click customization, but that may have been a different issue.  I know I fixed the issue your having thought a while back.

I would recommend you to check your Mouse settings

Sorry for not getting back to you on this yet.  Have a look through your right click customization settings in options.  I know there are settings that mean that a click right click is an enter and holding it open the short cut menu, I know I changed these settings.  Also there is a setting that turns off the predictive commands in the command line that I also changed.  In both cases it thinking about whether your right click was an enter or a open short cut menu, or the pause as it came up with predictive options to you typing say 'c' which is my copy command meant it missed your first or second left click for your window.  I have had this problem occur multiple times over the years.  It might also be related to one of the dynamic inputs being on.  Sorry I just cant remember exactly as I think i've had it multiple times, then tried multiple things, then just migrate settings when I have something that works.  Also the way I do things is apparently old school command then window etc.  while new drafters seem to select then do the command.

I would be surprised if right click settings had anything to do with this since selection is done with left mouse button.

Well it surprised me too but that's what it was, two different examples. Essentially it delays your left click so you have physically click opposite corners but it puts the 2 clicks on top of each other.

It also surprises me that I'm still using 2017 because of issues I have with 2018 and 2019 with stuff that worked fine for 10 years beforehand but weird things  happens.

What you said doesn't make sense.

I have my doubts that right click settings have anything to do with the left mouse button.

I'm literally at my computer right now and the autocomplete still does it.  I cant remember the settings I had on the right click customization or what version of cad I was using at the time, but im sure it still does it too.

The topic at hand is about window selection. This is done with the left mouse button. I'm pretty sure autocomplete is not related.

Well im literally at my computer and can repeat it where autocomplete causes issues with a selection window.  Now if I slow done the mouse clicks its fine, or if I turn of autocomplete its fine.  But if you think i'm wrong that's fine, my input was for the OP to look at for his problems.  I also encourage him to look at the right click customization as I has similar issue with it at one time.  From memory I change the pause time, or turned that on or something, but mines working now so i'm not bothered, if it helps the OP out great.

I found the setting that was causing the issue on my side. On the selection tab the Window selection method was set to Both - Automatic detection. Change it to Click and Click.
