Recommendations on Desktops

Hello,

Please could someone point me in the right direction. I want to purchase a dual desktop computer to run AutoCAD. Can anyone recommend one that is able to run AutoCAD smoothly and with the correct specifications.

The question is still quite vague. For example are you planning on working with billion point, point clouds, or simple line drawings? Probably something in between I presume.

Also, what is your budget?

In general - and in order, spend your money on (1) the processor with the highest Single Thread Rating (AutoCAD doesn't care about or use multiple cores*), and (2) the fastest hard drives, which usually is not a concern these days, (3) RAM, and (4) the display adapter.

* a few limited processes will use other cores.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

It will be used for our company designing staircases. So we will be drawing different types of staircases from Helical to straight, to single spine staircases. I wont be using it myself and am not the greatest when it comes to computers. We have someone dedicated to do the drawings and they have told us AutoCAD would be the best programme to use. That's why I need recommendation on the best Desktop. Budget I think would be up to £1,000.00, but i am aware that this may need to be increased.
