Hi

I am a new user of Autcad , I am currently using Autocad 2015, we have a project with a municipal region, and they have a standard P&ID drawings that we must use as reference to develop our own new drawings, I downloaded these file off the region's webportal and found out that the drawing is only shown in the paperspace, there are some loose objects in the model, some are used but not all of them appear in the paperspace, i want to work on the drawing in model space but its not shown at all, i tried Regen or Zoom to extents only those loose objects appear in the model space, please guide me how to transform the drawing from paper space to model space, by the way ,in the paper space there are no viewports as well, i thought it might be locked but i cant even access the menu to toggle between locked or unlocked...!!, i attached the file if someone can have a look at it and transform the drawings in paperspace into the model space

thx all

Hello

A quick idea (without ACAD): try the command CHSPACE <Enter>

Hi,

>> please guide me how to transform the drawing from paper space to model space

Use command _COPYBASE in layout, show a base-point and select the objects in model-space

Then change to model-space, start command _PASTECLIP and show a point to insert the copied geometry.

Hi,

If you go that way using command _CHSPACE you need first to create a viewport (create one with the same size of the paper) and then run the command.

I tried copybase command which partially was successful but i couldnt paste all the drawing details, some text plus lines in different colors were missing, plz if there is another way i can select all layers to be copied that would be great.

also tried to create new viewport in new layout but it keep brining the loose objects that are in model space into the new layout with a pop up window of '' about to regen...proceed?. when i press ok  it shows the objects in the model in the new viewport

Hi,

>> I tried copybase command which partially was successful but i couldnt paste all the drawing details

Which ones, I can't see anything missing, but might overlook some details.

>> but it keep brining the loose objects that are in model space into the new layout

Be careful what space is current when you start command _CHSPACE! If paper-space is active then the geom will be transferred from paper-space to model-space, if modelspace is active (you are IN the viewport) then the model-space objects will be transferred to paper-space.

Also, after creating the viewport, make sure the viewport shows a part of the model-space, where no other geometry exist, otherwise the command _CHSPACE, when transferring the geometry from layout to model-space, will create a mixture of the old model-space geometry and the new geometry. (or delete the existing geom in model-space if you don't need it using <CTRL><A> to select all ... then press <DEL> ... all in model-space before transferring the geom from layout to model-space)

>> a pop up window of '' about to regen...proceed?

Set REGENAUTO to ON

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

This is really easy. Select Layout 1 (13061S). You will see the entire contents of your drawing. Start your layer command and verify that everything is ON, Thawed, and Unlocked.

Then, using window selection, select everything on the screen, rt-click go to Clipboard and pick Copy.

Now switch to the Model, rt-click and select Paste as Block. You can now see the items you  copied (duplicated - at some point you will want to delete the ones in the layout to avoid this duplication) as well as the items that exist in the model.

You will have to analyze all of this to see what is duplicate or unique.

both of your solutions were very useful,i know its very easy for an experienced user, but I am totally new and I learn as I go,I am sure I will have lot of questions especially with paperspace layouts and viewports and scaling.

thanks all.
