AutoCAD 2017 blinking MAINLY IN LAYOUT

My problem is that from time to time , my AutoCAD blinks and it is really annoying. I could get used to it, but if you would see what happens in layout...

Once i open it, it blinks a few times , then its gone. BUT once i make a plotter and i go to my model to get a scale to (for example) 1:50 it blinks at least 4 times per second and even if i get through this and make my model fit so its ready to be printed , i click out of model and my scale is messed up from 1:50 to some 0.1911476 ... and this happens each time i try it

I read some of your advices and tried:

download and install Service pack 1

switch on/off hardware acceleration

maximaze my screen

my graphic card - NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M

OS - Windows 10 Pro (64-bit)

RAM 8GB

Resolution 1366x768 (can be higher if im connected to monitor)

Im also sending you ABOUT and GRAPHICSKONFIG commands screenshot

I am sorry for CZ language , if there is anything you dont understand, just let me know , thank you 🙂ABOUT.JPGGraphicskonfig.JPG

Hi,

welcome @Anonymous.autodesk.com!

A few questions:

  • does the same happen if you have your AutoCAD application window on your second monitor?
  • does that happen with some specific drawings or also with new drawings (based on original AutoCAD templates)?
  • when you login with a new Windows user account and start AutoCAD then ... same issue?
  • when you first started AutoCAD, did you migrate settings from a prev. version of AutoCAD?

Hello

Maybe a stupid idea :
- Try to remove 1 decimal from XYZ coordinates With UNITS command
- Try to remove 1 Icon from bottom status line

@Anonymous

Update your graphics card driver by downloading it from the vendors website. Then disable hardware accelerator.

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

I see you started this thread yesterday. Have you had a chance to review the suggestions? It appears that you have the most current driver for your graphics card. Have you tried looking for a display driver (not a driver for the graphics card?  Have you checked for a BIOS update?

Are you on an EDU license? If not, can you apply the updates to see if that remedies the issue?

Please let me know your status with an additional post.

Hi

1. I was surprised , on second monitor , none of these problems occured. (For comparism - Notebook screen 1366x768 resolution , Second monitor resolution 1920x1080

2. I tried it on my specific drawing , also on new clear templates , it caused the same problem , but only on PC screen

3. I have only one account on PC so i didnt try it , dont even know how to put new account and honestly i dont think it would help me with this problem

4. I tried migrate settings from autocad 2014 (arg. file) but autocad 2017 didnt accept it so i had to do every setting from start.

Simply , i think it has some issue with resolution or something like that and i am really surprised since when autocad program requires perfect resolution for simpel drawing.

Hi,

as @braudpat mentioned try to reduce the number of icons in the status-bar and also right-click on a layout-tab and use option "Dock above Status Bar".

I put other replies to one

I tried change decimals , didnt help

I have one of the most current graphic card drivers , no reason to download others

And answers for Mr. John Vellek

- I have the most current display driver (when i pressed update button in device manager, i got a message no more updates available)

- I dont think it is a BIOS problem , as i said on higher reply - i works fine on my second monitor and mess up only on PC screen

If EDU licence means i have a student version downloaded officially , yes i have it

One more Clue i found out - the more complicated project i open in layout , it blinks more

Hi @Anonymous,

I suggest that you check the refresh rate on your laptop display.   Can you tell me what model of laptop you are using? The resolution you indicate sounds a bit unusual.

Well i have to admit , you both were right , i reduced the number of icons in my status bar (dock above status bar is unnecessary and it reduce workspace a bit)

Thank you for help, I am surprised and glad so many people respond to my problem in such a short time 🙂
