"Paste Special" in Word 2016 from AutoCAD 2018/2019

I am trying to use the "Paste Special" function in Word 2016 to paste an "AutoCAD Object" and Word keeps telling me it "encountered an Error". I am able to copy and paste (CTRL-V) from AC to Word no problem. I have used the "paste Special"  function in the past (with older versions of both Word and AC) and the quality is much better than a standard paste (especially when printing or displaying on a large projector). I searched the forums and found one possible resolution of turning off hardware acceleration, however this had no affect on my issue. I have tried this on two different computer systems, and using AutoCAD LT 2018, AutoCAD 2018, and AutoCAD 2019 (just upgraded) with the same issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Something that I will try is making sure your Microsoft word is updated. I had issues in the past with paste special because Microsoft word wasn't updated.  Work like a charm after.  I know Microsoft has a repair feature as well under programs and features on windows try that as well.

javier.zavala, appreciate the possible solution, however I have validated that Word and AutoCAD are fully updated. (sorry, I forgot to mention this in the original post).

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

I tried this on my 2019 with Word 2016 and had no errors.  Can you try this from Notepad or Wordpad to see if that works? Since you are, I assume, simply selecting the text in Word, using copy and then the paste special, It is basically just formatted text so it would be nice to know if Wordpad works.

I am also using the 64-bit version of Word 2016 if it makes any difference.

John.vellek, Thanks for the warm welcome! Unfortunately, I am not just pasting text, but I did try your suggestion and I was able to "paste Special" in Wordpad. However I was unable to find a paste special command in notepad. As background I am using 32 bit Word.

HI @Anonymous,

When I paste special as an AutoCAD object, I am not seeing a significant difference  in quality from a regular paste.  I am curious if loading the 64-bit version works differently for you.

If this fails to work, is there a need to paste as an object so you can edit the AutoCAD file later? If not, then perhaps printing from AutoCAD to a PDF and inserting that would give you better results.
