"AutoCAD Application has stopped working" after changing color, opening/saving

My 2009 AutoCAD freezes and closes on random days. Sometimes it crashes after attempting to change a color, opening a file, or even clicking "save as".

The crash when changing a color only says "AutoCAD Application has stopped working." Then gives me an option to attempt to debug which never does anything or close program.

The crash during "open" or "save as" gives some long FATAL ERROR unhanded exception message.

I have tried repairing and reinstalling AutoCAD as well as re-linking the support file search paths for color support, and everything.... These issues either occur 20 times a day, or not at all. Restarting my PC as well as the program do nothing. I am running Windows 10, and apparently my former coworker never had these issues... so maybe an update caused this???

PLEASE HELP!

Bad news: WIn10 is not a supported OS for R2009, so if an update from Win10 is the culprit all you can do is to try and remove it then pray it never even happens again because no one at Autodesk or Microsoft plans on fixing it.

Not supported only means no one will ever fix a problem you discover http://autode.sk/1IY4C2X

Thanks for the reply. The weird thing is that everyone in my office runs
the same setup and no one else has these issues... we all have installed
the recent updates so I don't know whats going on. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi,

Then check your AutoCAD and Windows user profile.

Therefor create a new Windows user account, give that account admin permissions, login with that account and run one day AutoCAD in that environment ... better?

Thanks for the reply alfred!

I just uninstalled all of the Windows 10 updates and restarted my comp, but
that did nothing.

I cannot figure out how to reset the AutoCAD user settings in Windows 10.
The options on the autodesk website do not exist on my computer.... this is
really frustrating
