Proxy Graphics Not Showing

We have 2 versions of software in our company.  Some have AutoCAD Architecture 2019 (?) and we have AutoCAD 2017.  We have received a drawing and those who have regular AutoCAD cannot see the walls on the building We have proxy graphics checked to show.  We had them show the proxy graphics in the AutoCAD Architecture software and save the drawing and we were able to see the walls.  Now, we cannot see the walls again.  I believe an object enabler is the solution but I have no idea how to use it or install it.  Please help!

HI @Anonymous,

The object enabler for AEC content is built into product but I suspect the problem you are having is due to different versions.  Some 2019 objects are likely not backward compatible. You might test by opening the file in AutoCAD 2019 with Proxy objects enabled to test this condition.

Is there no way for one of the 2019 users to save back the drawing such that it converts the custom objects to pre-2018 format?

Hi @Anonymous,

Did you test the drawing in AutoCAD 2019? Did it work there?  If you need to move between AutoCAD Architecture 2019 and AutoCAD 2018 you might actually need to use the Exporttoautocad from AutoCAD Architecture to get all the objects visible in plain AutoCAD.
