problems with centermark and centerline command

AutoCAD 2024 says... "Command: _centermark ** CENTERMARK command not allowed during reference editing **"

but AutoCAD doesn't hardly ever let me use these commands, while reference editing or not, and sometimes I can insert a centermark during block edits, which to seems logical. am I missing something here ?!?

thanks

REFEDIT command allows very few tools outside of the most basic core commands to work: it's been that way for decades. And we end users can't change that reality.

Use BEDIT command instead if this is a block you are editing, or use XOPEN command if this is an XREF: there are fewer restrictions in either of those.

Hi thanks for your response, but the main problem is that can't get the centermark or centerline commands to work within the model space, maybe a restart will fix it, and sometimes they work within BEDIT

So you have not just restarted your computer yet? Do that now.
