Printing autocad file

Hi ...

Any body can give me an help about printing?
I am working with autocad and regularly do the print from dwg file directly to ploter. 
are there any good to print dwg to pdf first and from pdf to ploter? which is a good way to do printing autocad work>

Hello, Use the Autodesk supplied DWG to PDF driver. Start the Print/Plot command just as you would as if you were sending it to the plotter but select the DWG to PDF.pc3 file as your plotter. Follow the steps in the image.

1. Select the DWG to PDF driver

2. Capture your print settings (i.e. paper size, scale, layout)

3. Make sure you have the correct pen table.

4. Save your Page Setup. Save your page setup to your typical plot settings (i.e. 11 x 17 pdf).

When you print AutoCAD will now print your drawing to a pdf file and you can emial and/or send to the plotter from there. You can change the settings of this driver by selecting properties in the print window. I typicaly turn off the layer control and have my default pdf program open when I am complete.

Hi,

you can plot direct from AutoCAD to plotter there is NO need to PDF procedures.BUT converting dwg files to pdf is a way for archiving or for exchange CAD informations with others.

dealing with scale drawing ...can we still maintain the scale factor when I print the file to pdf and pdf to plotter?

I suspect there might be more to your question than you have typed here.

Why would you add an extra step if you don't need that step?

In the narrowly defined parameters of your problem statement - I see no benefit to the extra step.

Now, if there is more to your question.....

I think that there is no sense of pdf procedure. since you will open two software one for CAD and the other for pdf !!!!!

The procedure is same.. best way is set up Layout. Only reason to print to pdf first is that you're sending a drawing to someone else to print. Print from pdf then always looks little bit differently... and scale is always little bit risky because a lot of people set "Fit to page" then instead of "Actual size".

Hi...
Yes....I just watched on youtube about autocad printing and title block sheet template. on this video i noted he said...He prefer to print all his work first on pdf file so he can review the drawing before print to plotter. Easier to share file and email them. from pdf file he can send to plotter via pdf file. 
I just worder if there is a problem managing the drawing scale and fit the pdf file to certain size paper.

Its good for final check before you print it on a paper... but actual print is better from Autocad directly, as I said.

All of my printing/plotting settings are set in my template - set it and forget it.

I don't even need to do a plot preview.

Sending to someone without AutoCAD or AutoCAD printing (or my printer and plotter) - that is another question.
