The PDFSHXTEXT comand does not work. It says Unknown command "PDFSHXTXT". And there is also no

Recognition SHX Text' icon in the panel.

already checked Product Updated, and there are no updates available for my Products at this time.

Where did you check to see if your product was up to date?  what version number does it show in the dialog that appears when you type ABOUT <enter> at the commandline?  it should be showing you are on 2017.1.2

If you are using the desktop app, it is known to be flaky on showing proper updates, I would look it up in your Autodesk account page product updates.

Definitely check your CUI. The CUI settings for that ribbon tab/panel should look like this:

@ryan.bales

but if typing the command PDFSHXTEXT returns unknown command, it isnt a CUI/Ribbon issue.

Perhaps, but since its not shown on the panel we need to check that first. Aside from that the command should be visible in the CUI menu, so opening the CUI should verify the panel, tab and command exist.

Hi,

@ryan.bales

>> Aside from that the command should be visible in the CUI menu

Sorry, if trying to start the command by typing into the command-line and getting "unkown command" as result it does not make sense to do anything in the CUI. Even if the button for that command would exist it also would return "unknown command" ... so looking into the CUI does not help in any way.

I agree with @chriscowgill7373 most probably the update 2017.1.x was not installed, then the command would not exist.

So for the thread opener: start AutoCAD, start command _ABOUT and compare your version information with that screenshot:

If your version is lower than the one shown in the screenshot please start Autodesk Desktop App, make sure you are logged in, let it search a few minutes for updates and then install them.

@Alfred.NESWADBA

I think you are right, my AutoCAD's version is much lower.

It is installed from intranet, not sure if it can be updated by individual.

Thanks for a lot. At least, I knew why I can't use that command.

Hi,

Why not, simply update it! As described start Autodesk Desktop App, login, wait a bit and then install ...

My AutoCAD is not  bought from my count. I installed it from our company's intranet. It might be some IT issue, not sure. Actually I dont know how to update it at this situation.

Hi,

>> I installed it from our company's intranet

Than you should have an account at Autodesk, either for login with Autodesk Desktop App or at the subscription center https://manage.autodesk.com ... also here you can download the update(s). At least your companies contract manager should have the access to that link.

If you dont have the 2017.1 update installed, there is no method to access the command.  a LISP routine isnt going to help.

Hi,

>> i can't convert to the text

Have you seen the "Settings" option in the command-line within the command _PDFSHXTEXT?
This gives you a lot of options to define for how text can be recognized (or not):
