PDF Quality Standards for Import

Hey guys, 

I am getting the "no objects imported" more often than not, and wondering if anyone has any strict standards in order for my PDF (which is a pretty clear floorplan) to import into autoCAD with the lines able to come in as vector. Raster image is not an option because I need to be able to edit the file. I have tried importing the PDF into Acrobat Pro and exporting as a PDF/X, PDF/E, and can't seem to find the right pdf quality settings for it to import. 

I've tried the Scan2CAD free programs and what not but they never come in like the clear floorplan I need, and I don't have the time to trace the whole thing. If there was a program I could PAY to do this WELL, I wouldn't mind paying. I am just wondering if there is a good method to export my PDF to a certain size and quality if it would import fine. 

Can anyone help with this?

PDFs have to be the vector-type to be imported and converted to DWG files using the built-in tools.
The program decides what an importable PDF is, you don't get to and AFAIK there is no way to print a new PDF from the old PDF using any type of PDF driver from Ac robat or anyone else.

For raster-type PDFs you will need to purchase a 3rd party conversion program. Raster-type PDFs are rarely clean and perfect when imported. The technology is not there yet.

If it is not a very complicated pdf floor plan, I suggest just convert it to a jpg, then import it as an image, change its "Fade" to a bit darker, then trace over it. The reason pdf file is not suitable to use a the tracing background is because you can not change its "Fade" and not friendly for your eyes to trace over.

If it is a "one-off" work, the cost and accuracy of tracing over is better than buying a converting software.
