Overwrite existing/duplicate layer properties when adding layers through design center?

Hi all,

I have to reformat an existing drawing to match layer properties from a provided template drawing. Unfortunately there are a number of existing layers with the same names as the layers I would like to import and when I add the template layers through design center it does not change the properties of the pre-existing layers with the same names. Is there anyway to get imported layers to override existing layer properties?

A few notes:

- There are objects on the existing layers so they can't be deleted

- There are a large number of layers so manually updating the properties of each of the "problem" layers would ideally be a last resort

Thanks!

What if you insert your drawing exploded into the template file?

Commands STANDARDS

and LAYTRANS can help to do this.

Or you can set up a simple command script (if you are not trained to create scripts, it needs a lot of time, otherwise 10min)

Thank you, STANDARDS seems to do the trick! Do you know if there's a way to ignore the "non-standard name" problem? There are non-standard layers which I will move objects from, but want to only review the non-standard properties at this moment.

Update: I was able to create a copy of the standard with all additional layers and styles added, so it was only the non-standard layer properties that were flagged.
