Opening older version files in AutoCAD 2018

I downloaded the new version of CAD (2018) on my laptop and when I tried to open a file that I was working on (in 2015 CAD version) it would not allow me to open it. Are there settings or something to adjust this?!

Plain vanilla AutoCAD files have always been forward compatible.

When you say "not allow me to open it" - what exactly do you mean? Did you get an error message or error dialog?

Screenshots are gold here. Posting the DWG in question is even better.

What error message did you receive when you tried to open a 2015 file from 2018?  Are the 2015 files from the regular AutoCAD version or a vertical like Civil 3D?  Otherwise it doesn't matter, I open files from 1994 on a regular basis in 2018 with no problems.

Perhaps you can post a sample 2015 file to see if others on here encounter the same problem as you do attempting to open in 2018?
