ole excel table- cell range trouble

I want to bring an excel table into my autocad 2020 drawing, and to do it as a linked ole object. this works, BUT, no matter what I do, I always get the same cell range appearing as the ole object, about 10 columns and 10 rows. i want to see 4 columns and 30 rows. i've tried paste special, naming the cell range in excel, saving as xls instead of other excel formats, making sure that all other cells in the spreadsheet are empty, it's a very small file, not heavy at all- nothing makes a difference. any ideas?
thanks!

Hello @Starrplan

You have a funny looking post. Looks like you pasted from NotePad because you have a slider bar at the bottom. Why don't you just type into the 'space' provided by the Forum?

Delete the 10x10 table. It's not what you want, so dump it.

Next, copy the appropriate rows and columns, e.g. 4x30 in excel then Paste Special again.

If you are going from 10 rows in your OLD table to 30 rows in your NEW table (make sure you each new row has at least one entry) you need to re-insert a new table b/c your range of cells will need updating. You can't paste the additional 20 rows if they're blank.
