objects visible in print preview but not in paper space

Hi, i have an opposite problem to most and want to know in general if this is feasible.

i have an xref that is showing when i print preview and also in the final print, but it is turned off in paperspace so cannot be seen. Have tried un loading it / freezing / adding to no print layer.

is this simply a corruption?.

is it even possible to allow something that cannot be seen in paperspace, print? it seems clear to me that in general all items in paperspace can be printed (unless on no-print etc) but not the otherway round

thanks in advance.

no transparencies. have resolved by copying drawing into new drawing and all resolved.

just interested to know if there are any cases in CAD where you may be able to print something that you cannot see in paperspace.

thanks

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

The behavior you saw is probably due to a damaged layout. Moving it to a new drawing is a quick and easy method that I would have suggested to you.

As far as printing objects that are not set for display, this should not happen. Printing should respect the settings you ave controlled by layer properties and visualization styles.

I can think of a few ways. One of which has already been alluded to in this thread, but cannot think of a reason why someone would want to do it intentionally.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Hi @Anonymous,

I am checking back to see if my post or others helped you with your problem.  Did you want to attach a file so I can take a look?

As @TheCADnoob mentioned, if the object is set to be transparent you might not see it in your display but per your PLOT settings it will show up if transparency settings are not selected.
