PULL DOWN MENUS-HELP

I've created my own panel. In this panel I have rows and a sub-panel. In the sub-panel, on the same row, I have created four pull-downs. When I click on the pull-down, it doesn't carry out the top showing command. It always lists all of the commands and I have to choose one. It will put the last command that I've used at the top, but the next time I pick on it, it doesn't run that last command, it always lists all of the commands in the pull-down. When I hover over an existing pull-down, the top command and the arrow highlight separately. On the ones that I've created, they both highlight at the same time. How do I get them to separate, so it will run the top showing command only?

I stumbled across my own solution. Under customize/panels/(user panel)/"pull-down name", select the behavior pull down. Of the 5 choices select "SPLIT WITH RECENT". This will separate the command from the pull-down arrow.
