not able to copy paste

I just install 2018LT  and have ran into a problem with copy paste. The problem is here at the shop our plasma system uses autocad 2014 and can not be upgraded any more without buying a system. I drew a part in 2018 and tried to copy past from 2018 to 2014, when I selected paste in 2014 the part came in as a picture and not a part. How do I fix this?

I had to use paste special as autocad entities.  This is always a problem when switching drawing formats.  I think the current drawing is in the current version all the time until you save it, then it saves as the old, but is still the current version. (makes sense in my head, hard to explain using words)

what about saving as a 2013 dxf, then opening it in 2014 and copy paste between drawings?

The short answer is that you can't copy paste between 2018 and 2014. It's 2 different dwg formats. One workaround would be to make a WBLOCK of the part and then save it. You would have to reopen it with 2018 and save as 2013 format to insert it into your 2014 dwg. Not a good option I know but short of staying with 2014, you are kind of limited.

Thank you for the answer, I kinda figured that's what it was going to be.
