Missing SHX dialog - but I have the SHX file

So I got a new computer at work today and this fresh install of Autocad 2016 is giving me some issues. Whenever I open any of our drawings or insert any of our blocks I get a dialog box looking for DGNLSTYLE.SHX. The thing is the file is there! And no matter how many times I press "ok" it will not accept it. So my only choice is to hit cancel. This is getting annoying quickly. What can I do to fix this issue?

As far as I can tell all of my font file paths in options are correct and I have copied this shx file all over the place.

Since AutoCAD cannot find it, it could be:
- the folder you think is the correct one is not.
- the SHX file you have is not the shape file or font file (SHX can be one of the other, never both) that your DWG is looking for.

So I just realized that it is in fact looking for a Shape file and the DGNLSTYLE i have is a font file. Which files native to autocad are shape shx files? I can take one of those and rename a copy to this name.

"dgn" is not an Autodesk product: you need to ask the Microstation user that sent you the files to provide you with the proper shape file. Shape files are very specific to certain shapes, they are not interchangeable.

I haven't received these files from anyone. Our entire block library and drawings are affected. I didn't have any issue with my previous pc with 2016. So there's something missing or a setting wrong. I just don't know what it is.

Problem solved. So I went into options, System, Hidden Message Settings. In there I checked "Missing SHX Files". Then I opened a drawing and this time it gave me the option to ignore all and "do this every time" ... no more messages.

Be aware that hiding the warning  message does NOT resolve the underlying problem of missing information (a shape file that is not there or can't be found).

You've still got a problem, but no longer get a warning about that problem.
