Hello

I am working on a project where I need section properties of 18 sided pole shaft. I have created a CAD file in scale and when I enter "Massprop" command then it selects a inside region of interior circle + inside region of outside circle. SO the values that I am getting are not correct

Could you please help

I have attached file for your reference

thanks,

Sandeep

Hi,

welcome @Anonymous.autodesk.com!

Can you please describe your situation again? It's (at least for me) not clear who selects what and which objects you are checking/selecting, which values you get and why you think that they are wrong.

Just to show you what is not clear:

>> when I enter "Massprop" command then it selects a inside region

>> of interior circle + inside region of outside circle

Command _MASSPROP does not select anything, when I start the command I'm asked to select an object.

>> selects a inside region of interior circle + inside region of outside circle.

There is not any circle in the drawing.

If you mean "inside polygon" and "outside polygon" ... there are two of each types, one on layer "P-TOWER" and another one on layer "DEFPOINT", which ones are you referring to?

>> SO the values that I am getting are not correct

Which values do you get?

And why do you think that they are not correct?

Hi,

Yes, I have seen it, that's why I knew hat there were not any circles in your drawing

>> Also attached is the PDF with my notes/comments
Sorry, I don't see a PDF, not in your first post and not in your last one (which is hard to read in the forum)

>> I am available to talk if needed

This here is a public forum (users help users) not a support line you are paying for, so I think you won't get a call from anyone (besides maybe Autodesk if you have created a support case in your Autodesk subscription center).

Hi,

>> i need section properties of the region

Not sure if my guessing is correct now. ;(

"the region" is irritating here as "region" is a name of an AutoCAD object type and you have send a drawing with 2 blue regions, if you want to have the mass-properties of the outer region MINUS the inner region you have first to run command _SUBTRACT (to make the inner region an island for the outer one) and then you can run _MASSPROP to get that value.

When you start _MASSPROP and select multiple regions you always get the summed value, AutoCAD does not subtract anything as long as that are separate objects.

Hi Sandeep,

It appears that you have a region (inner"circle") sitting inside another region (outer "circle").

If I subtract the inner region from the outer I can then run MASSPROP.

I did this to both the left hand regions and the right hand regions and got the following results.

Capture.PNG

Massprop results for left hand regions:

CaptureL.PNG

and for the right hand regions:

Capturer.PNG
