Manage Text style dialog box doesn show up

Hello all,

I need help please. Suddenly the manage text style dialog box does not show up (I use 2018 version). Yesterday it worked and I could create new style; however today the box just cannot be spotted anywhere. Any tricks or tips to make it shown again?

Thanks a bunch!

Hi,

what happens when you start command _STYLE?

If AutoCAD hangs until you press <ESC> then follow these steps:

  • Start command _STYLE
  • press <ALT><SPACE> ... this brings up a context menu
  • press <Keyboard Cursor down> until "Move" then press <ENTER>
  • use <Keyboard Cursor left/or/right> until you see the style-dialog.
  • Now continue with your mouse to set the new location.

Hello Alfred,

Thank you for the reply. I have tried that trick before and it did not work. The text style box cannot be seen anywhere thus I can move anything. I have used windows cascade command too.

Sorry, I meant, I cannot select and move the dialog box because the it is not seen anywhere.

Additional info: I use 3 monitors.

What if you hold down the Shift Key + the Windows key and press the left or right arrow at the same time. Does the box appear?

Hi,

can you please confirm that when you start command _STYLE that Autodesk hangs until you press <ESC>

If not then please start command _.STYLE (with underline and point) ... anything different? If not then please create a screenshot form your command line so I can see what AutoCAD is asking when you started this command.

Hi,

Thank you, I just tried it, still the box is missing. Only the 'manage text style' box that is missing, the other style manager boxes (dimension, table, multileader) work well and show up in the middle of my AutoCAD working monitor.

I have restarted my computer as well (twice), thought it's just a glitch because I could work with the text manager box yesterday.

Hi Alfred,

yes, correct, Autodesk hangs until I press esc.

I'll send the screen shots for both commands (_STYLE and _.STYLE)

Thank you,

Hi,

>> Yes, correct, Autodesk hangs until I press esc.

Thank you confirming this. If the <ALT><SPACE> does not help to get a context menu then ...

  • close all applications
  • unplug all displayed, just keep the monitor 1 connected
  • start AutoCAD
  • start command _STYLE
  • if the dialog appears, just move it a bit
  • if the dialog does not appear ... do you now get a menu when pressing <ALT><SPACE>?

Just to make sure ... you press <ALT> and <SPACE> together, not one after the other key?

Wow, this sounds like you have some issues either with OS or with graphic card.

Can you try my suggestion with disconnecting 2 of your 3 monitors?

If all this does not help then I would reset settings to default as shown >>>here<<<.

Hi Alfred,

yes I tried to disconnect the other two monitors, still could not find the missing box. I think you are right, that I have issues with my computer setting. Will try your suggestion to reset it and will let you know!

Thanks a bunch! 🙂

Hi,

next try would be to shut down your workstation, then disconnect 2 of 3 monitors, then start your system with the 1 monitor, start AutoCAD and try to get the dialog again.

Reset settings could be done then too.

But yes, that <ALT><SPACE> makes your workstation freezing is not a good sign.

Refer to this similar scenario with Layer Properties manager : Layer Properties Manager does not display in AutoCAD

For the REGEDIT method use the below path:

Eg:Autocad 2016

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R20.1\ACAD-F001:409\Profiles\<<Unnamed Profile>>\Dialogs\TextstyleDialog

Hi Alfred (and all),

I just wanted to update you. I just installed AutoCad 2020 and the same problem happened. At the very first time I could modify (worked on manage text styles). But the second time I clicked on 'manage text styles' no dialog box shown and it freezes until I pressed escape button. This issue is very annoying. Any suggestion on how to contact to the support team?

Thank you again!
