Live Maps

Will the live map ever be updated? The current one dates from circa 2010.

Hi,

>> Will the live map ever be updated?

the data you see is from the Bings-service (from Microsoft), you'll have to ask them.

It's nothing Autodesk can do.

>> The current one dates from circa 2010

This global statement is not correct. It depends on the area you look to and also how close you are. Then you'll see that some regions and scales are newer, some are older.

So why not change to Google? That's something Autodesk CAN do.

Hi,

Autodesk had access to Google, but because of license fee's and/or conflicts about regulations/licensing they changed to Bingmaps.

And as I wrote that it depends on areas which is newer and which older, a change to Google does not change the situation. There are some areas where Google is more current, and some where Bingmaps is newer, so again it depends on the area (and zoom depth).

When you see Google Maps as the better imaginary data ... download Google Earth Pro (which is free now, >>>click for info<<<), download the aereal image and use it as reference in AutoCAD.

Richard,

In addition to Alfred's always excellent advice, most county and state governments have free downloadable aerial photos.

Getting the scale right is a problem using images from Google Earth.
