While calculating the total area of multiple hatches using the following LISP( from a pavement layout drawing showing different types of pavement) I got the error message "Automation error Invalid input" .Please advise with necessary corrections for proceeding with my calculations.

not enough info.

The error reported is not one I've ever seen from LISP itself, is probably an error trap written into the LISP routine you're running.

You might want to try running a RECOVER or AUDIT on the drawing you're trying to run the routine on.  Assuming the LISP has run successfully on other drawings, perhaps this one could have a drawing data error involved.
