Hi all,
Pesky but infuriating issue that I'm looking for some insight on. I have a dimstyle that I use for most of my annotations, with the text alignment set to ISO standard. However, when I try to "move with leader" some of my shorter dimensions, the text automatically realigns to be parallel to the dim line. See Screenshot 1 -- the upper "4-0" SHLDR" dim shows the text in it's default position, and the lower dim shows it when I try to move it with a leader. I want the text for both the 4'-0" dims to match the 10'-0" travel lane dims.
I found a way around the text positioning issue. I created a copy of my preferred dimstyle and threw an "-ALT" at the end, and set the text position to be horizontal instead of ISO standard. Now the text is perpendicular to the dimline, but the leader goes all the way through the text! See screenshot 2.
I cannot figure out how to get this text to be horizontal and for the leader to not extend all the way through the text. I know that I can always just set the dim text to be empty and then use an independent leader to make it look the way I want, but I'd rather not do that. Any insight anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated!
Looks like you are just fighting your own DISMTYLE settings, nothing else. Those manual overrides then go away.
You might consider using a second DIMSTYLE for these special case text-orientation needs, you seem to be doing that already
Not sure if this will work for you, but maybe AIDIMTEXTMOVE with Option 1...more on the command here

I like using it a lot more than grip editing, especially in a CUI macro so one doesn't need to type it...it might move your dimension text without rotating or changing the leader...
