layer search without opening the layer properties

Hi there,

I am working for a company that has its name as a prefix to all layers, I find that it is timing consuming to scroll up and down the list every time I need to change layers.

if there wasn't a prefix I could hoover over the list and type the first letter, which works amazingly well. Is there a way to bypass the prefix?

Any suggestions are welcomed.

thanks

@leticia.campanelli ,

Try adding an asterisk * before the layer name in the search box.

@leticia.campanelli ,

Consider using the RENAME command and removing the Company Name (temporarily), then adding it back if needed later. See sample...

Consider using the command line to set the current layer.

Possibly this setting...

[Consider explaining to the company this inefficiency of using that Layer naming standard, and maybe they'll be willing to change it.]

That's a very common practice in civil engineering. We use that too.

Using layer groups can also help, the dropdown list on top will only show layers from the active group and the currently active layer. This can shorten the dropdown list significantly, so you can easily just select the layer from the list without having to search for it. I understand that will mean you sometimes have to switch groups.
