Join command will not join my lines

It's probably a simple problem, but no matter what I try I cannot get these lines to join. I've triple-checked that none of them stick out too far, made sure the lines were flat, etc. I always get

4 objects converted to 2 3D polylines, 1 object discarded from the operation

What am I doing wrong?

Hi,

Join command didn't work with closed objects . join command combines a series of finite linear and open curved objects at their common endpoints to create a single 2D or 3D object. if do you want to get a 3d pyramid try to use  _pyramid command .

EDIT - Ooups, I was **** slow, sorry.

>" I try I cannot get these lines to join."

Your attached file is the state after 'join', so WE can not find a LINE in the modelspace.

2x3dPline, 1xPline

>" made sure the lines were flat,"

Every LINE is "flat", but more then one line can use different planes.

You Sample objects (now) are using 3 different planes.

If you start JOIN again, the problem (now) is that you can join objects only at start and endpoints,

in the current file there are not this situation.

And you can not join closed (3d)plines.

Sounds good, so join is not what I'm looking for. Is there any way to alter the pyramid so that the peak of it is not centered on the base?

Yes you can ... after you draw the pyramid ( PYRAMID command ) , select the top by Ctrl+select mouse button to move the top edge to another place and as you need .
