AutoCAD gets hatch patterns from folder that's not in Support File Search Path

I am in AutoCAD 2016.

I recently dealt with a perplexing issue regarding hatch patterns. There was a hatch pattern that would

not disappear from the list of custom hatch patterns in the Hatch Pattern Palette in the Hatch and Gradient window (below). But I had the good luck of hovering over the hatch name for a second, so it showed me the path where the .PAT file was located. It turns out that this hatch was located in a folder which is NOT included in my Support File Search Path.  (more info/questions below the picture)

The .PAT file was in the folder:
 
C:\Users\mmurrin\documents
 
When I deleted the .PAT file from this folder, the hatch pattern also disappeared from the Hatch Pattern Palette when I checked it next. I also did double check by adding NEW hatch patterns to the " C:\Users\mmurrin\documents " folder and indeed those hatch patterns were found in the Hatch Pattern Palette when I checked it next. So AutoCAD is searching that folder for some reason.

 
But this folder is not included in my Support File Search Path (pictured below). The closest folder is:
 
C:\Users\mmurrin\documents\locallisp
 
Why would AutoCAD search for hatch patterns in a folder outside the specified folder? Does anyone know

what exactly causes this to happen and if it should be happening?

AutoCAD also searches for files in that folder, where the dwg-file is stored.

So if you are working with a DWG file that is stored in your user's documents folder the PAT-files in that folder will be found and listed.

Perhaps try to clear all the shortcuts found in the Recent subfolders?

C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD ####\R##.#\enu\Recent

Aha!  That is indeed what was happening.  The file I was working in happened to be in the same folder as the indicated hatches (the "Documents" folder indicated in my original post).  I also tested this further by doing the same thing in another folder (having the DWG I'm using and a new custom hatch in the same folder) and confirmed this.  Thank you.
