Is this possible? Creating details via a double XREF

Hello,

So here's my conundrum. I'm attempting to create details from an original drawing that has been XREF into a second drawing four times. Each of those XREF's are then XCLIP on different parts of the original drawing to create boundaries for the details. I saved the second drawing, then XREF that drawing into the original drawing.

I can XREF the second drawing into the first one but inside the XCLIP boundaries the drawing doesn't appear.

Thanks for reading,

It sounds like you are creating a circular reference. AutoCAD doesn't like that.

I see. I guess that would explain it. I'd be nice if that type of feature could work on Autocad but I'm sure it gets complicated. Thanks for the help.

It might be possible if you set the XREFs to overlay.
