Is there a way to use minimised menu bar without drop-downs (click to open only)

Hi All,

I like to use a Classic look menu bar setup and was wondering if anyone knows how I can best achieve the following, maybe theres a Variable or I might have to move my query to customisation.

-Keep a 'Classic' menubar style of workspace.

-instead of menus dropping down when you hover over them, I would like to click on them to drop down only

-this is not about tooltips, its about opening the minimised menu itself

Its because as I swing past going at the speed of light, sometimes my mouse brushes past the menu and by the time I click on something else, the menu has popped up in my way and I find Im suddenley clicking Action Record or something. I know my mouse accuracy is my own fault, but I find all hover menus in any program too slow. I use lots of keyboard shortcuts and I do have customisations too, but wondering if this functionality exists.

Thanks

There must be a setting somewhere.

I use classic menus and toolbars.

When I hover over the top menu bar, the headings are highlighted, but only drop down when I click on them.

I assume you're talking about MENUBAR <1> with FILE, EDIT, VIEW, etc... across the top?

By default, these should only highlight when you mouseover (not open) unless you click them.

The only way I can replicate your issue is if I hold down my left mouse button and then hover over each menu.

Try another mouse?

Or maybe click lock is on in the mouse settings.

We'd love to see what you see: can you post a screencast video of it all in action?
Here is the link to screencast if you don't already have it installed in AutoCAD https://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/simplecontent/content/download-autodesk-screencast...

Not sure if I was suffering the effects of a migraine, but of course there is no such thing as a 'minimised' menubar!

I dont know how to edit my original post, so please replace all mention of menubar with RIBBON.

ie. I swing past the minimised ribbon and click something because it drops down.

(Truly sorry to all previous replies, Im really grateful you took the time... most embarrassed right now!)

How do you use the classic look then? That usually refers to toolbars.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.
