Is it possible to run a search on a drawing?

Hi,

Is not possible to conduct a search within the DesignCenter for blocks that are not themselves contained within a specific directory? Drawings (.dwg) themselves are effectively directories in their own right, enabling access to their contents (as depicted.)

Does anyone know how to search the blocks within a drawing?

Or if this is indeed not possible?

Cheers,

@LDRCADBIM Do you need this:
https://help.autodesk.com/view/ACD/2025/ENU/?guid=GUID-95EE2918-9C4A-4FE7-A333-7A35A58AC90D

Or do you need one or more of these:
https://apps.autodesk.com/ACD/en/List/Search?isAppSearch=True&searchboxstore=ACD&facet=&collection=&...

Or something else similar to something you used in another CAD program called...?

Hi,

I don't understand why you need this..

Inside the current file: All blocks are listed, so what or how are you searching for?

Please, explain why someone like to do a search for a block

And if you select the folder of your  .dwg and you are searching for block "test",

you get a list of all .dwgs with hits, include or exclude your file. Not so bad.

searching inside the current drawing?

just type in (if your Input Search Option "Block" is on)

or use BLOCK Pallet (command INSERT)

Hey cadffm, thanks for your reply.

I took your advice and loaded Details.dwg into the BLOCKSPALLETE.

While there, I am able to execute various search functions such as *LANG* to achieve my desired results: a list of blocks available which contain a specific tag: "LANG."

However, it seems I cannot execute a dual-tag search. i.e. I cannot search for blocks containing both "LANG" and "ROOF".

Thanks.

Hi Pendean,

Thanks for your reply. I have achieved my goal by using BLOCKSPALLETTE

While Details.dwg is loaded, which contains hundreds of blocks titled by "tag strings,"

I'm able to execute searches using the filter function of the palette.

However, it seems I cannot execute a dual-tag search. i.e. I cannot search for blocks containing both "LANG" and "ROOF".
