Inconsistent plotting in AutoCAD

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi all, My strange problem. we have had a project for the better part of two years. No problems. Within the last month plotting has become spotty. The entire sheet plots except the sheet number in the lower right hand corner of the drawing 10-20% of the number portion of the sheet number is missing.  Example E-2  looks like E-2 with the top curve of the 2 missing it moves from drawing to drawing, with different parts of the number missing. I have had this problem before in that large portions of the drawing dropped out (being corrupted) however no settings have been changed. Plot preview looks great the problem does not show until the drawing actually plots. So in 80 drawings 25 come out with part of the sheet number missing.

Thank You for whatever light you may be able to shed on this problem

Hi @Anonymous,

This sounds strange that only that one part/area has plotting issues.  What happens if you print the set to a PDF? Does it still get left off?  Can you eTransmit the set or a couple drawings so I can try to duplicate this?

Which specific version of AutoCAD is in use?

Hi John, I apologize for the delay i have a couple of fires to put out.
Autocad 2009 is our working version
I have tried converting the drawing to a PDF again with mixed success the first drawing was a complete success the second drawing displayed the original problem.
the problem for me is that there are 80 drawings i don't want to have to make PDF's everytime there are changes, and i have just discovered my co-worker is experiencing the same problem
First thing in the morning i will make an effort to eTransmit you a couple of drawings for testing
added note my second fire involves a font on the same project now being substituted, heretofore it had worked perfectly
i have a suspicion that a program (CAD Direct 64 AI) i tried yesterday is at fault
I believe the initial problem was present before using the CAD direct program
thank you again keven
i will get these drawings to you in the morning

Hi @Anonymous,

I don't have that older version of AutoCAD installed but I am still hoping that you can send me the files so I can try them on my installation.

Hi @Anonymous,

As Dean noted, your eTranmsit files did not attach to your post. Please come to this thread in a web browser and try to re-attach the file(s) so I can take a look.

Hi @kgarrard.vmelectrical,

I noticed that your E-1 originated from a different application. Rather than play with it I focused on the G-E2 file.  When I opened it I saw that it had a lot of errors in it.

Capture.PNG

I ran AUDIT and then applied the 24x36 page setup to the file. I used the AutoCAD PDF (General Documentation) driver to produce my plot.  I have attached the results.

I also looked at your text styles and did not see anything amiss.  So, if all this looks correct  I suggest removing the other application you mentioned and then test. You can also try logging in as a new user (no customization) and test again.  If that works, perhaps a simple Reset Settings to Default will correct the errant behavior.

Greetings i receiver the drawing GE-2 it plotted fine as i said i got the same results i will close all programs and restart the computer and the program and re plot to see if it remains the same.

As far as the errors i never got that message from this project. can you shed any light on what causes these errors?

could it be that my software due to its age is the problem?

i will follow your recommendation:

You can also try logging in as a new user (no customization) and test again.  If that works, perhaps a simple Reset Settings to Default will correct the errant behavior. and the audit file also.

Hi @kgarrard.vmelectrical,

Newer versions of AutoCAD are more rigorous in detecting and correcting drawing database corruption which is likely why I was able to detect and clean the errors.

Let me know if any of the suggestions help to correct the issue on your computer.  I should suggest also, (I AM NOT IN SALES) that perhaps it is time to upgrade to current product so you might take advantage of current features, be able to run on current operating systems, and maintain compatibility with your consultants.
