Import and display X,Y,Z points from Excel file

Hello  everybody,

I have some troubles to find the way to import points in AutoCAD 3D projects. I have 1400 points in Excel file with columns ID, X, Y, Z,. I would like to display them with 2 labels (ID and Z).

I know there is scripts showed on web but it doesn't work for me.

Herewith my Excel file.

Hi @Anonymous 

Normally points import  fails with number formats: decimal point or comma refer to an dot or comma respectively. Check "Number format" in your Windows, which decimal separator use:

Yes I have checked that AutoCAD need . as decimal separator.

Yes I just found Civil 3D as option. I am gonna try that. Is this soft provide .DWG as output file ?

To display points, you can make a block with the necessary attributes, and load your data with the necessary labels using Lee Mac's PointManager, PTM - http://www.lee-mac.com/ptmanager.html.

You can also download using Civil - as written by tcorey.
You can import and Map (/ Civil) 3D - MAPIMPORT.

Yes, Civil 3D uses .dwg, the same as plain AutoCAD.

OK thanks, I got Cicil 3D.

I have lot of trouble to import my set of topographic data. 

It should be easy but it's not, for me

My Excel file is :

first column : description of the point (sometime empty) alphanumeric

column 2 : X numeric

column 3 : Y  numeric

column 4 : Z  numeric

column 5 ID   string

what kinf of format shoul I use ? I tried but I always have error messages about my input file.

Here is my import windows

Instead of the column for Point Number, use Point Name. Point Number does not allow alpha-numeric, but Point Name does.
