How to tell OVERKILL which objects to delete?

Hi all,

I an struggling to understand which objects (above or below, drawn first or drawn second) does OVERKILL command actually delete. Is there a way to tell the command that I want to keep the objects that are above the others?

In my case, I am working with polylines and/or lines and they were all imported at the same time using PDF Import.

Thanks all.

Hi,

>>"which objects"

First short test, less than one minute, result is: creation order.

(above or below, drawn first or drawn second)

>>" Is there a way to tell"

No.

So, because I imported them all at the same time, my polylines will always get deleted randomly. In some instances above and in other below. And there is nothing I can do about it?

a) >>"So, because I imported them all at the same time, "

YOU imported all the same time (because it is for you one step only / one command)

but The program can not create multiple objects at the same time, all steps are linear  / in a row

and also the PDF content: Someone created the PDF and this content was also created linear  / in a row

<for example, if you plot to pdf from AutoCAD: It is the drawordner>

b) >>"my polylines will always get deleted randomly."

In your eyes it is, but technically not.

c) >>"In some instances above and in other below. "

That must be a special situation (and setting in your pdfimport). For 1:1 imported objects (like a circles) ,

the draworder and creation-order should be the same (I think).

<It's difficult to discuss without a concrete example>

d) >>"And there is nothing I can do about it?"

I think 'No' is the right answer, but without a specific sample (pdf/dwg/(overkill setting), hard to say.

Short answer: the command does not allow for user input to prioritize selection.

Easy fix if you don't like the results from OVERKILL: do it manually yourself for absolute control.

That is unfortunately not an option as I have thousands of instances.

Thank you though.
