How to selectively remove part of the design easily

Hello,

I was trying to make a design that I knew I would eventually half to split into two components. I had trying used layers (make a new layer and then make it active before doing more work). However, it seemed like everything ended up on the same layer. Probably about 80% of the design is arrays. The designs will need to line up exactly when layered because they are for photolithography. Is there any good way to selectively delete things other than spending an hour by hand trying to remove it all? I attached a copy of the design if that helps. The herringbone patterns need to stay for one layer and on the other, everything else needs to stay. Thank you.

@bab322 Qselect command can do that for you. Takes a bit of practice to get the hang of it but it's a lifesaver for situations like this.

Hi @bab322

Here is an excellent tip by @kristina.youngblut covering Qselect that will also help.
