Adding Parentheses/Brackets slightly uncenters the text. Fix?

I've attached picture for reference.

I have a line of text that should be centered in the space allotted. As soon as I add brackets, commas, etc the text itself aligns with the top of the bracket, but in doing so shifts the sentence up slightly, therefore making the letters no longer 'actually' center within the space, even if the text block itself is.

As you can see very clearly in my attached example, I have a line of text aligned to MC, but the top of the text is now aligned with the top of the bracket leaving a larger space under the text making it no longer centered within the upper and lower lines.

My question is, Is there a way to make it so the parentheses bracket, when typed, is center aligned with the text and not top aligned as pictured. I've tried everything to do with actual "alignment" tools but nothing is working.

Thanks, in advanced, Evan.

I might be an issue with the font you're using? We're using simplex here and the parentheses stay justified with the text when added.

Edit:  Have you tried changing the text properties setting called "Line Space Style" from "at least" to "exactly"? No idea if it'll help with that font.

Wow, you're correct. It seems *most* fonts are top aligned whereas some, like calibri and simplex, are centered. I hadn't even considered that this would change depending on the font. Sometimes you need someone else's brain on it, cuz mine was stuck.

As this is my work place's standard font, I think I'll have to live with the slight offset. Buuuummer.

Thanks!

EDIT:  unfortunately I did try "Line Space Style" originally when I was playing with all the properties and it had no effect! But thanks for the thought!
