Auto CAD 2018

I am trying to replace one title block with modifications. The original title block is attached . I have remove the title block using erase command. When I am trying to xref corrected title block - the old one shows up.

In xref window the old title block is listed as attached. Detach or bind is not high lighthed. I purged all unused layers block without luck.

I need to get the project out tomorrow morning. I will keep on trying.

But in the meanwhile, I will appreciate very much if some body could help me.

So you are purging unused layers, correct? What you really need to do is purge the old block itself. Purging the old block will provide a clean slate for the NEW block when it’s inserted as a replacement for the old one.

Before purging the old block, you must delete ALL instances of the old block on ALL layout tabs as well as anywhere else it exists, i.e. in modelspace.

When purging, the old block must be listed in the PURGE list in order for you to effectively purge it. If it’s not listed then you haven’t purged ALL instances of the block which means you must search, find and delete the instance(s) you’ve missed.

Once the old block has been properly purged, the insertion of the newly modified block can be inserted without issue.

in the command prompt type RENAME then go to block > rename the existing title block with other name, now attach your new title block and see if helps. thanks

I purged all unused blocks. and that did not work. I opened xref window and on top there is option to refresh. I did refresh and that did the trick. I was able to replace the Title block.I learned AutoCAD by clicking buttons. Same trick worked.

Many thanks for the suggestions.
