How to draw and plan for elevations and sections

I have floor plans and hope to draw some elevatations  and sections  for it.

I am wondering how do i go about this ? what is the best methodology  /workflow  for these tasks?  (  i am trying to orientatethe drawing  in UCS, projecting construction lines - then i assemble it all in paperspace - i dont know if this is a good method)

Are there any decent videos or tutorials on this subject?

NOte the floor plan i am working with is a bit complex - more than just a rectangle  -  i need about 8 elevations in 8 different projections. The building  is 2 stories plus a roof.

I;ve tried to draw it but my model is just getting so messy - and i am getting confused  especially with multiple projections - i don't know how to best lay it all out  or how to project the various orientations -

It seems that each office/ person has there own preferences and ways of doing things.

Where should a novice start ?- i am looking for the best way to set off on the right foot

ALso where do i add the dimensions and text model space or paper space - whats normal ? Its seems to be getting too messy on the model space

I assume there are many ways to approach it - some better than others - what do you recommend?

Hi,

as you said ( It seems that each office/ person has there own preferences and ways of doing things. ) i agree with you since it's reach for the final results we hope BUT let us don't forget that the way that we use to finish our homeworks very important especially when you tied with time.

SO from my own experience i'll give you some hints:

- make your plans as an XREF'S and attached them to where will you draw sections ans elevations.

- xrefs containing all text data that related to it.

- put all of your attached plans beside each others,then start to draw your elevations or sections ( in your case start to draw elevations).

- when you finish your first elevation move it a way a little bit to start to draw another one after rotating your plans.

- start to draw the second elevation beside the first one to take heights and levels from it.

- repeat previous steps till you finish all elevations and sections.

- LAYOUTS usually uses for plotting and preparing all of your data in sheets.

- Dimensions also usually made in MODEL space.

Hello,

Try to change your WCS into front and type the "FLATSHOT" command. Here's one video that I created which I used a flatshot command.
