"to check"? Check what?
A picture/dwg whould be helpful to understand what you want and a more detailed description of what and what you want.
I know, this way is a really new creative idea, but i am sure it works well.

But you could draw a Line across the chord, and look at that, for which you wouldn't need a Field, but just the Properties palette or List command. Set your angular Units setting to Surveyor's Units if that's the kind of "bearing" display you want.

[Since that was in Reply to me, I note that you're asking the wrong person, but....] Is the answer to that not clear from the Title wording and Message 1? That is, the answer to whether they want the Arc length or the chord bearing -- I don't see that it makes any difference whether or not it's for staking in the field.
