Hi,

First rename the xref files and then use the reference manager to change the path of the xref. The Reference manager can be accessed by click on the windows key and then expand the AutoCAD version and then click on the Reference manager.

Thank you guys,

I have tried Referencing Manger. it's only for changing the path with the same name.

There are no option to change the xref name.

Reread the first reply you got and it's first sentence on how to start the process https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-forum/how-to-change-xref-file-name-without-open-drawings/m-p/...

Thank you for your effort.

I have tried again. same result.

Reference Manager is asking only the path of Xref (..\Folder Name) ,Not asking Xref files name(..\folder_1\Map1).

May be i am going wrong way. Please guide me.

Hi @mohamedahsaan126,

It sounds like you need to change the file name of existing Xrefs in your drawing and are trying to update the reference with the new name without having to open each drawing.

The reference manager is able to update a reference to a new path, or new drawing as long as the file name is the same as the existing reference. I have not found an option for updating an existing reference with a new name outside the Xref manager in the drawing itself.

Hi @mohamedahsaan126,

You are quite welcome, you did great!

It may be helpful to post in the AutoCAD Customizations forums. The members there are more familiar with LISP and other scripts.

I hope you are able to find a custom solution quickly!

All the best,
