How items are selected, After I use MVSETUP to scale viewport

Hello again, 

So I have a couple of issues very new to AutoCAD:

1. Using MVSETUP to Scale in Layout Space

    -So in order for me to scale the layout I was told to use MVSETUP to scale the viewport in the Layout Space. It works very well, but all my other settings seem to get disfunctional.

    - I can no longer click on my attributes in the title block to edit them I have to type in the command ATTIPEDIT then select the attribute that I want to edit. 

    - I can no longer use the keypad and just type E for Erase, I have to click on the Erase icon then selct the object just to erase. It is the same way for any other function like rotating, moving, copy, etc..

SO MY QUESTION IS, "Is there anyway I could turn off something to do with MVSETUP or should I not use that command. I would like to edit my title block and the attributes within it  without doing extra steps or any other function. Its almost like MVSETUP messes with some settings or something.

Do you use MVSETUP all the time? We've witched to predefined Templates for some time now and it's a better way of starting new files for us.

Your last two issues sound like you turned off PICKFIRST and PICKADD variables.
