Highlighted Block Image

Hi All

I using AutoCad 2013, and must have hit the wrong two keys by mistake.

Somehow, I've lost the highlighted image of a block before I insert it in the

drawing.

Any Ideas or Suggestions would be most helpful and appreciated.

Hi,

>> I've lost the highlighted image of a block before I insert it

Can you please show a screenshot?
I have no idea where you should see anything highlighted BEFORE you insert it.

Please describe the command you use and the step-by-step description of what you see and what you expect.

Couldn't really get a screen shot but what I'm trying to get back is

a command the helps you place the block on your drawing. The block

(like a kitchen sink) picked from your block library, then the block is

highlighted -ghost image and then you can see where it is about  to be

positioned. All I'm seeing is just a blank screen. hope that made better sense.

Hi,

How do you insert a block from your library into the current drawing? Using ...

  • Windows Explorer
  • Design Center
  • ToolPalette
  • Command _INSERT?

This might already help: make sure your system-variable DRAGMODE is set to "Auto"

Thanks for your quick reply, I was out of the office today.

I use the insert command to place blocks and dragmode was in Auto.

Still no change

I appreciate all your input

Hi again, I went on You_Tube and here is a screen shot of what I am experiencing when I try to insert a block

From the picture you can see the block on the right is about to be inserted (cursor is visible) In my case the cursor

is visible but the block is not

Thanks

Dave

Hi,

can you please

  • start a new drawing
  • in that drawing create a new block from just a few lines
  • then insert that block

Do you have here the same issue?

If yes ... please login with a different/new Windows user account and try the same again ... also no dragging visible?

Changing DRAGMODE to Auto should bring back the preview. Type DRAGMODE at the command line and choose Auto from the three choices of On, Off or Auto.

Hi,

May be the block is much to large or very very tiny while you insert it? Zoom in and out while you are in the insertion mode (while AutoCAD asks for an insertion point).

Other idea: the layers are off or frozen, layers of parts within the block or the current layer is off?

You might upload the drawing and let us know which block don't work well during insertion.

Hi Alfred
First I'd like to express my gratitude to you, with all your helpful suggestionsI tried all the last ideas all with negative results. The image feature ininserting a block is nice to have but it's not critical in delaying anyon going projects, it's just nice to have.
The funny thing is, that when I started this present job, it worked perfectly as it was supposetoo but for unseen reason it just stopped working.
My first thought was, that I typed in a wrong two letter command that turned that feature off and that it was an easy fix by requesting the right two letter commands again to have itturned back on. apparently this is not the case.
I'm still happy to try any further ideas or suggestions

As all is working well with a new drawing it seems to depend on a specific dwg and settings in that dwg-file.

So can you please upload this drawing and let us know which block-name you'd like to insert?
