Hidden Objects show when Publishing but not Plotting

I've created the attached "Find the circle.dwg" in an attempt to diagnose an issue in discrepancies between Plotting & Publishing. When the attached Layout 1 is plotted it prints the rectangles only, however when the same layout is Published a circle (intentionally obscured using the HIDEOBJECTS command) will appear. Does anyone know why or what setting can be changed to get the Publish to show correctly?

i suggest to install the latest service pack and update for your AutoCAD  from Autodesk Account or using Autodesk Desktop App..

Hi,

command _PUBLISH is like opening a drawing in another task and do the plot job in a separate context.

You can test by yourself: run command _HIDEOBJECTS .. save the drawing and reopen it ... you'll see the temporary hidden obejcts are visible again. Same happens when you run command _PUBLISH

You might try for 3D objects:

If you want to have a viewport content beeing hidden then either switch the visual style to "HIDDEN" or change for that viewport the property "Shade plot" to "Hidden" or "Legacy hidden" ... then publish will send the geometry hidden to your plotter/PDF/...

But for 2D-objects you can use options like wipeout or true-color-white hatches in the correct display-order to have the option to save the drawing with also saving the visibility state. I guess that will not be a good workflow...but if or if not depends on your job to solve.

I see no difference plotting or publishing your drawing to PDF. What version of AutoCAD are you using?

Try applying a named Page Setup to the layout. Does this come out differently if you plot/publish using this page setup?

Your response put me on the right track. Setting the OBJECTISOLATIONMODE to 1 retains the hidden objects even when it is opened in a new session!

Dangerous ... for users who don't know that!

I would not do it that way, maybe just for the publish command and then set it back to default.
