When I open a specific type of drawing that has MTEXT in vertical fashion, my Autocad will automatically convert this into regular text and is horizontal. Why is it doing this? Also - when I zoom in to text on the screen, the "thickness" of the text scales up. As I zoom out, the text becomes a "block" of whatever color the text is.

Background: I have been messing around with CUI, creating my own CUI etc. I accidentally unloaded ACAD.CUI. After searching for it again, I was able to reload it. When I reloaded it, there were several more tabs than what I needed in CAD, so I removed them and saved the CUI to acad<myname>.cui and used it instead. I don't know if this is why this is happening or not.

Do I just need to reload the original acad.cui? Thanks hopefully someone knows what I am needing :cara_de_decepción:

I'm able to replicate your problem:

What I did is look for the font mapping file & add this line on top:

simplex;simplex_.TTF

Which caused the problem

You can locate your acad.fmp file by doing the following at the AutoCAD command line:

(findfile"acad.fmp")

This file can be opened using Notepad & modified.

Perhaps try copying from the other computer's acad.fmp and replace yours or look for this line:

simplex;simplex_.TTF

Remove it & save the revised file

Now exit AutoCAD & reopen and see if this fixes the problem which did it for me:

I'm happy to see you can recreate my problem, however, when I opened the font map file the line in question was not present so I could not delete it out.

I also had a coworker send me their font map file and I still have the same issue

Darn :cara_de_decepción: Do you suggest resetting acad, I assume that is my only option...

Thanks Patchy, I didn't want to go this route but alas this is seemingly a waste of time

or give this one more try it's a long shot

edit the acad.fmp & add this as the top line to see if it makes a difference:

simplex;simplex.shx

It's too late I already reset! No worries though I won't be making the same mistake again. Thank you for the replies and help today.
