I'm using autocad 2012 for the past decade and don't want to change as it works well for me.
But the last day or two, something happened with the SNAP to GRID function.
Here's what's happening.
Set grid dots to 2 inches
Set snap to 2 inches.
My cursor will now jump from dot to dot across the screen as it should.
Select CYLINDER, place cursor on a random grid dot and click. Select Diameter and enter 4.5 inches and set for 12 inches tall.
The cylinder function works fine although at this point it just looks like a circle from the top.
Now I want to draw another cylinder inside the first one, but the SNAP to GRID function doesn't work once the cursor cross-hairs enter the circular area of the first cylinder. Once the cursor passes the circular line, the cylinder is highlighted and the snap distance seems to change and shift. I can not get the cursor to the same grid dot line that I used to make the original cylinder. Once outside the circular line of the cylinder, it snaps to the grid dots again just fine.
What is going on? Is there a setting somewhere that got screwed up? I've been using autocad 2012 for ten years and its never behaved like this before.
If I draw a normal 2d circle, this doesn't happen. The circle isn't highlighted when the cursor moves inside it, and the snap to grid works fine.
