HELP - my model wont show up in layout /viewport.

Hi I was wondering if someone can help..

I'm new to Autocad and I've just drawn a model layout. When I go to layout and create a rectangle viewport my model is not showing up at all. I've looked at a few tutorials and they say to check the layers are not frozen or unset. I've tried that and nothing is bringing it up.

Any ideas, suggestions, or hints where I've gone wrong would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Laura,

If you double-click in your viewport (to make it active) and ZOOM > EXTENTS, does anything appear?

Hi there ,

Thanks for speedy response!! I've zoomed in and nothing . The viewport
also won't activate when I click in and out of rectangle on the layout
page. I have to create a new viewport each time , and then only the grids ,
navigation bar on right are visible.

I've tried doodling on a new sheet and similarly nothing. I am complete
novice , so I hope I'm explaining it clearly ?!?

Thanks for your help,
Laura

Hi @Anonymous

I assume the layer is frozen in the viewport. See the below snapshot where there are four square objects in modelspace and all visible in layout.  In another snapshot, the layer is frozen in viewport highlighted in Yellow color and the RED square on "layer1" is not visible 🙂 Hope that helps

No worries!

As suggested, it's possible your 'model' layer is frozen in the viewport. Try the remedy @vinodkl suggests. If that doesn't work, is it possible for you to upload your dwg file so we can have a look?

Hi @vinodkl  and @JRitner ,

Thanks so much, you're both very helpful. Yes, that was the first thing I tried was going through the layers to make sure they were all 'on' and set to plot, etc. I'm sure it's something silly I've forgotten to do.  I might just start all over again. I'm popping to work now but I'll upload it later if you could give some advice when you can that would be great !

thanks a mill,

Laura

Just to let you know,

It seemed to be a problem with the version downloaded as numerous errors
were showing. I uninstalled from desktop and downloaded again, and so far
it's all working !!

Thanks for all the hints, tips and suggestions,,🙏

Greatly appreciated,
Laura
