Getting rid of ribbons

I have successfully set up my AutoCAD to be in "Classic" mode and customized to my optimum work flow but every time I reopen the program it reverts to ribbons and I have to go though a few steps to get back to "Classic".  This hasn't happened in previous installations and I am wondering where I went wrong in the customization process.  I'm sure I selected "save" the configuration but it keeps reverting.  Any suggestions?

Did you forget to use...
WORKSPACE command, SAVEAS option, create and use CLASSIC for the new name of your new no-ribbon workspace?

If not, then you have an external ARG/Profile/Startup replacing everything back to stock OOTB settings.

Show us the screenshot of your ABOUT command please, as well as the workspace portion of CUI command on all four quadrants of that pop-up.

TIA

You can also use one of these two options in this link -  to ensure your desired workspace loads.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Forcing-....

I like the first option listed.  I create several desktop icons each with a unique workspace. Example - one for Civil 3D, one for MAP, one for Drafting, and so on.  You can easily switch back and forth at anytime while in the program with the workspace command.  They all launch CIVIL 3D (AutoCAD in your case) but the workspace varies.

Cheers

Note that because workspaces exist in CUIx files, if the current PROFILE does not load the CUIx file that contains the "desired workspace", this method will fail.

The OP must determine if the described issue is due to some sort of "spontaneous" workspace change (not related to a PROFILE change) or to a PROFILE change (which includes a workspace change).

Hello,
Thanks for your reply. I have included the screen shots you suggested and would be most grateful for any help with this issue.
BTW...each time I open AutoCAD I have the ribbon format and need to go to OPTIONS and select plain Autocad under the Profiles tab to get my CLASSIC version back again. I still have to use the RIBBONCLOSE command to turn off the ribbons and also need to redock the command line.
Many thanks. Peter
