Hi,

Is this behaviour same in all your drawings.

If PICK Variables doesn't help try resetting autocad to defaults.

I think this was part of the issue... Where is the setting that controls the selection of objects? As of right now I have to select the object first then invoke a command. I want vice versa

Hello,

The pickfirst Variable in Options (Op).

0 = Off. You can select objects only after you start a command

1 = On. You can also select objects before you start a command

I can understand that in relation to Copy and Move [the PICKFIRST System Variable as others have already noted], but what does it have to do with the LINE command included in Post 1?

This happens ALL the time, or only occasionally?
What is your AutoCAD version and variant?
What add-ons do you have running?
Windows OS is what?
Is this a sudden problem today, and it's everywhere?
Running in two monitors, and you launch commands from one monitor but draw on the second?
Get a new mouse or updated mouse driver recently?

You are describing a Loss-Of-Focus in regards to the program window, your mouse thinks some other program window is active, and why you have to click once to activate the window and once again to use a command.

It looks like hardware is causing this. I installed this on another machine and all seems fine. What specifically could be causing this?

Hi,

Are you using the move & copy commands from the ribbon tool bar?

Check your QAFLAGS variable. Is it 0 or 1. The default value is 0.

If it is 1 then make it 0 and check if the commands are working.

Imadhabash,

I have to click multiple times to select the object..two times to start drawing the pline, two times to select the object..there is no pattern that I can observe...sometimes I can select the objects without any problems.. another time I need to click 2-3 times...

I think I found the solution. Touchpad delay is causing all of these issues. I disabled it and removed software that was blocking the touchpad. Thanks for the help.
