I am getting message:

"FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0xffffffff Exception at d54e0a1eh."

I get this message sometimes when opening a drawing. Whats weird is that minutes later the drawing may open just fine. It seems like I am starting to see this error more and more as time goes on.

Thank in advance for any help!

Billy

What version of autocad are you running in Windows7?
Is it fully patched and updated?
Is the problem with ALL files, or just this one or just ones in this folder?

Win7 is not new: what is on your PC or network of files locations?

AutoCAD 2016.

Windows 7.

It is not with all files. It only occurs sometimes. And it may occur with a drawing today, but that same drawing may open fine tomorrow.

I am not 100% sure about fully patched and updated. It is my work computer and IT handles all installs. I will contact IT to verify that I have all updates and patches.

Thank you for your response.

If thr same drawing may open fine tomorrow, then do one thing fisrt. Set layer 0, purge all unused, copy the entire drawing, open a new session, paste at original coordinate [ Alt+E+D] and save this new session by your file name. check and confirm if it works well.

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

It sounds like the drawing itself might be the problem. As others have mentioned, Audit, Purge and -Purge>Regapps are good first steps to see if that eliminates the problem.

Checking to see that your AutoCAD 2016 has the hotfixes and Service Pack applied is another great step to take.

Lastly, you might check to see that your Graphics driver is current.

Another step is to log on as another user (should have administrator permissions) to see if the behavior persists.

Thank you.

This seems to have fixed the problem. I first had to recover the original dwg in order to open it. Once I got it open I did as you've explained and the new drawings opens fine.

Thanks again!
