FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0000 Exception at 5eaefeebh

Hi

My AutoCAD crashed when opening the drawing from my colleague. see error below:

autocad error.png

I can open all my local drawings, and my colleague can also open the drawings that I sent. Only I can't open his drawing (we are all using AutoCAD 2016 and have all the latest service package and hotfixes installed). I looked for the solution from internet and got follow suggestions, and I did the modification according to the suggestion. After that, although I can open the drawing, but it became really slow.

In AutoCAD 2007-based products or later, the Performance Tuner is used to configure 3D, visualization, and hardware video acceleration settings to match the capabilities of your video card. Modifying these default settings could cause performance or stability issues in the application and may also prevent the program from launching successfully. To get AutoCAD to launch under this circumstance, run the program with basic software video acceleration. Follow these steps:

  1. Right-click the AutoCAD-based product icon on either the desktop or the Start menu and click Properties.
  2. In the Properties dialog box, click the Shortcut tab.
  3. In the Target field, edit the content to have the /nohardware switch at the end. For example:
    "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2015\acad.exe" /nohardware
  4. Click OK.

Double-click the modified icon to launch your AutoCAD-based product. Once the program has launched successfully, you can refer to the AutoCAD-based product Help file for information about configuring your system using the performance settings.

thanks for checking my question

regards

Hunter

Instead of changing to /nohardware try turning off Hardware Acceleration from Options/System. You can choose different things to try from the dialog box.Have you checked your graphics card for compatibility with AutoCAD? The certified hardware list is here http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/syscert?id=18844534&siteID=123112.
Are you opening AutoCAD first then the drawing? Have you Recovered the file? Purged the file? Purged Registered Apps (use the -purge command to access Reg Apps at the command line), WBLOCKed the file out to a new file?
We have some old drawings that can be opened by some users and not others and have narrowed it down to corrupted element(s) in the drawing. We have recovered, purged, purged reg. apps, w-blocked the drawing, and everything else we can find and it will still open for some and crash for others.
If you can post the drawing maybe someone here can find a solution.
Good luck!

Hi

I attached a test drawing. please have a look at it. there is a reference drawing linked to this drawing, but that shouldn't be the reason to get that error.

thanks and regards

I tried recreating your fatal error issue in AutoCAD 2016 and 2017, after working in your file I wasn't able to get a fatal error message.

You said that you are able to work and send your colleague files and he can modify them without an issue.

What type of system is he running?

Has anything changed on your system recently?

To recap is this happening with specific projects or all projects?

Hi

please see my red reply below:

What type of system is he running? We all run the same win 10 system.

Has anything changed on your system recently? There is a change recently, company move my account to a new NAS server. In the past, all the personal data is on the local disk, just all the drawings are on a windows server. and now all data (desktop, downloading, etc.) is on the NAS.

To recap is this happening with specific projects or all projects? this happens when I get drawing from company's oversea server, then I got this error. But the latest drawing I got is no problem, only for the old drawings.

I thought the reason is I worked with a 3D AutoCAD drawing just after my account changing, then some setting was changed and I don't know. Because when I switch off the hardware acceleration, I can open the test drawing, but it's really slow to work with.

Is there any other plugin application in that test drawing? linked reference drawing is not the reason, is that right?

thanks and regards

Hunter
